Committed to serving Berwick

Established in 1910, Berwick’s only private hospital has a rich heritage in the burgeoning communities of Melbourne’s south east.

Specialising in obstetrics, oncology, elective surgery, endoscopy, palliative care, cardiac care, rehabilitation and day surgery, St John of God Berwick Hospital has eight operating theatres, a cardio vascular catheter laboratory, a day oncology and infusion centre, an intensive care unit and a special care nursery; which means residents no longer have to travel far to get the quality and complex care they need.

Having undergone a major redevelopment over the past few years, the hospital moved from its former Gibb Street site to its new Kangan Drive location in January this year.

In an effort to meet the needs of the growing local communities, St John of God Berwick Hospital upgraded its facilities and expanded its services to more than double its previous capacity. What was once an 82-bed, single-story campus is now a multi-level facility that can accommodate over 200 patients.

The state-of-the-art hospital was specifically designed to capture the spectacular views of Berwick’s surrounding landscapes, including the beautiful foothills of the Dandenong Ranges. The purpose-built facility provides privacy along with natural light and views that are intended to enhance rest and recovery.

St John of God Berwick Hospital takes a holistic approach to caring for its patients with mental health and wellbeing considered a top priority throughout a patient’s recovery process.

The hospital has a pastoral care team that can provide a range of services from providing art therapy to meeting a patient’s emotional and spiritual needs.

Although St John of God Berwick Hospital is a Catholic healthcare provider, it cares for anyone regardless of cultural, spiritual or religious affiliations. With an onsite chapel and designated multi-faith space, the hospital is a welcoming place full of peace and hospitality.

St John of God Berwick Hospital is committed to serving the needs of its local community and is constantly evaluating its services in an effort to plan for continued growth and expansion into the future.
